“Veterinary drugs are crucial in the animal food production industry as they help increase the rate of an animal’s weight gain, improve feed efficiency, and even prevent or treat infections. Unfortunately, drug residues that remain in edible tissues or in animal products such as meat, milk, eggs, and honey still pose a risk. If exceeding regulatory levels, these residues induce harmful effects to consumers such as hypersensitivity reaction, carcinogenicity, mutagenicity, teratogenicity, disruption of normal intestinal flora, and development of drug resistance in microorganisms. “
