With 1.6 billion consumers worldwide, the Halal market continues to be a growing industry. To access this market, Philippine businesses secure Halal certification for their products to comply with the religious requirements observed by Muslims. The halal mark signifies quality, which passed through stringent Islam standards from preparation, handling, packaging to release in the market.
The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) is a government institution that is committed in the promotion of well-being of Muslim Filipinos. Among its mandates is the Halal program for the promotion and development of the Philippine Halal industry. It is also the institution responsible in the accreditation of Halal-certifying entities. Among the accredited NCMF entities are the following:
-HICCIP (Halal International Chamber of Commerce and Industries of the Philippines)
-MINHA (Mindanao Halal Authority, Inc.)
-MMHCB (Muslim Mindanao Halal Certification Board, Inc.)
These institutions are responsible in certifying halal food products in the country.
