Happy World Food Safety Day, fellow food safety ambassadors!
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations declares June 7th as the official celebration of World Food Safety Day. This year's theme, "Saving Lives through Food Standards" aims to raise awareness and stimulates a call to action for detecting and prevention of hazards that threatens public health and food security.
With an estimated 600 million cases of foodborne illnesses each year affecting nearly 1 in 10 people worldwide, food safety is crucial in ensuring that food is safe from farming, harvesting, processing, storage, distribution, all the way to preparation and consumption.
As we celebrate World Food Safety Day, let's take a moment to reflect on our own practices and make a commitment to prioritize food safety. Each and everyone must adhere to strict hygiene practices, quality control procedures, and regulatory guidelines to ensure that what we eat is safe for consumption.
