Food safety first! Here are some tips on handling your leftovers properly.
- Keep your food out of the temperature danger zone (5 °C-60 °C).
- Wrap or seal your leftover food in airtight containers.
- Pack leftover food in small serving sizes to cool them faster.
- Label stored leftovers.
- Refrigerate or freeze all leftovers within 2 hours after cooking,
- Leftovers can be kept for 3 to 4 days in the refrigerator or frozen for 3 to 4 months but may lose flavor and moisture.
- Reheat food in portions that will be consumed immediately.
Proper handling of leftover food is important to prevent foodborne illnesses. Start 2020 right with food safety in mind!
