Philippine Association of Water Districts, Inc. (PAWD) held its 37th National Convention at Fontana, Clark, Pampanga on February 3 – 5, 2016, with the theme “Water districts: Resiliency amid Change.” With the current challenges brought by climate change, access to sanitation facilities and pollution of water resources among others, the 37th PAWD Convention aims to address these concerns to continuously ensure safe and sufficient supply of water for the Filipinos. The convention was filled with remarkable topics such as Adapting to Changes in Government Policies Affecting Water Supply Operations, Building Resilience through Good Governance, Building Resilience through Collaboration, Planning towards Climate Change Resiliency, Strengthening Resilience through Water and Energy Efficiency, and Water Resource and Water Quality. Some of the notable speakers from different districts and sectors are General Manager Carlos N. Santos, Jr. of Santa Maria, Bulacan Water District, Commissioner Rainier B. Butalid of Office of the Commissioner for Corporate Governance, and Honourable Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG). The convention was hosted by the Central Luzon Association of Water Districts (CLAWD) led by Chairman Art Villason and President Anthenor Garcia.
