The 11th Philippine National Corn Congress was held last October 21-23, 2015 at the Fontana Leisure Park in Clarkfield, Pampanga. With the theme “Moving Forward, Enhancing Competitiveness: Philippine Corn towards ASEAN Integration”, the convention, organized by the Department of Agriculture and the PhilMaize Federation Inc., has been attended by almost 2,000 participants from relevant industries including corn farmers, traders, and various government institutions under the Department of Agriculture and Local Government Units. Key officials were present during the event where Hon. Proceso Alcala is one of the guest speakers. For the third year now, the National Quality Corn Achievers Awards recognized the outstanding provinces and city/municipalities that have produced the best corn yields. Named also during the awarding are the Outstanding Provincial and Municipal /City Agriculturists, Outstanding Provincial and Municipal / City Corn Coordinators, Outstanding Regional Corn Teams, Outstanding Agricultural Extension Workers, and the GAP Certified Corn Farms. The National Corn Congress aim to make the corn sector globally competitive and prepared for the ASEAN Economic integration – to address challenges and capture opportunities.
